Duluth–based Ikonics held a ground breaking ceremony in Morgan Park to kick off Phase one of an ongoing plan for the expansion of the company.
A new 35–thousand square foot building will be built on 11 acres of previously unused land in Morgan Park. Ikonics C–E–O Bill Ulland says the time and incentives were right for the expansion. "We looked around the area and we came to the conclusion that this is an ideal site for us." It's enough room for us to grow, it's got the JOBZ credits associated with it and it's just a great site." Ikonics purchased the land from the Duluth Economic Development Authority for over 350–thousand dollars and will take advantage of the lot's JOBZ designation. Ikonics specializes in the creation and transferring of digital imaging. The building is expected to be completed next October.
