CHICAGO - Chicago police doing a well-being check at a South Side home discovered three people shot to death, the latest fatal shootings in a spate of violence that has plagued the city in recent weeks.
Police made the grisly discovery early Wednesday, Chicago officer Marcel Bright said.
Investigators were not releasing information about the case. It was the second time in as many weeks that multiple shooting victims have been discovered inside a South Side home.
Last week, police found five people dead inside a ransacked home. All the victims were in their 20s, and they all knew each other, said Deputy Chief Eugene Williams. There were signs of forced entry into the house, Williams said.
Those deaths brought the number of people shot to death in Chicago in less than a week to more than a dozen.
Police have stepped up patrols, placed SWAT officers and specialized units on the street and increased their fire power by using combat rifles.
