Jurors hear closing arguments in wiretap case

LOS ANGELES - A federal prosecutor has told jurors that private investigator Anthony Pellicano was a well-paid thug who illegally obtained information through wiretaps and other means to benefit his Hollywood A-list clientele.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dan Saunders says in his closing argument that the government has proven its case by presenting documents, testimony from clients and alleged victims and recordings Pellicano made with clients.

Saunders is scheduled to continue his arguments Tuesday, with defense attorneys to follow.

The 64-year-old Pellicano and four other defendants have pleaded not guilty to a variety of charges.
