Maria Silva

Maria Silva is an anchor and reporter at KVBC Channel 3, the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas; she anchors the weekend morning newscasts.

Her ability to speak two languages enabled her to become the first anchor at Univision Las Vegas, a Spanish-language television station, where she spent almost 4 years as an anchor, reporter and executive producer before joining the KVBC team.

She was also the host of "En Contacto," a community program on Las Vegas' City channel, KCLV Cable Channel 2. In October 2004, the Las Vegas City Council honored her as the Outstanding Hispanic in the Media.

Maria is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism.

Her commitment to higher education motivated Maria to become co-founder of the !Sí Se Puede! Foundation, which is dedicated to helping Hispanic and English as a Second Language students excel here in Southern Nevada.

She is proud to call Las Vegas home, having spent the last 25 years here. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her six siblings and her many nephews and nieces...all Las Vegas residents.
