LAS VEGAS - Tourism officials are sending showgirls on a glitz blitz to five cities this week, hoping to draw attention and visitors to Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is sending sequined showgirls out Thursday for photo opportunities at iconic attractions in Chicago, Denver, Seattle, San Diego and San Francisco.
Among the spots picked are a Seattle ferry and coffee shop, Balboa Park and Mission Beach in San Diego, San Francisco's Pier 39 and Golden Gate Bridge, the Colorado State Capitol in Denver and the Sears Tower in Chicago.
Officials say the images will be posted on the authority's Web site.
Spokesman Vince Alberta says the idea is to generate a buzz about Las Vegas and to tout National Tourism Week, May 10-18.
