Paltrow’s battle with depression April 17: Did Gwyneth Paltrow suffer from postnatal depression? Gwyneth opens up in this month's "Vogue." Access Hollywood |
Ex-pat Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow recently revealed that she suffered from postpartum depression following the birth of her second child with rocker Chris Martin. In an interview in the new issue of Vogue magazine, Gwyneth described the difficult time and what she believes caused the emotional shift.
“You know, I had postnatal depression after Moses,” the “Shakespeare in Love” actress confessed. “I didn’t know I had it until after it was over. I just didn’t know what was wrong with me.”
It was only after she looked back on the days following her son’s arrival that Gwyneth recognized the symptoms. “I felt really out of my body. I felt really disconnected. I felt really down. I felt pessimistic.”
The actress is certain she knows the source of the problem. Unlike her first pregnancy with daughter Apple, Gwyneth abandoned her prenatal routines, such as acupuncture and massage.
The Hoff needs to polish his approach
It looks like David Hasselhoff’s on the prowl, if one tawdry tale is to be believed. According a Gatecrasher snitch, the “America’s Got Talent” judge sent a flunky into the show’s audience to arrange a love connection.

Sadly for the Hoff, the woman failed to fall for the glossy bait. “She thought it was pathetic and funny,” the tattletale added.
Probably not pregnant
As the Hollywood baby boom remains in high gear, nearly every female celebrity in a loose-fitting top stands accused of hiding her baby bump. PR peeps issue daily bun-in-the-oven denials, but since it’s hard to keep track of it all, here’s the latest rundown of the ladies who (probably) aren’t expecting:
- A rep for Faith Hill insists the country singer “is not pregnant.” Turns out her unfortunate choice of billowing blouse for the CMT awards was just that.
- In an effort to put all the baby buzz behind her, Fergie spoke to the press herself. "I want to say this because I don't want people to think I keep getting pregnant and getting rid of these babies. No, I've never been pregnant!”
Another assurance that “she is not pregnant” came from Jennifer Love Hewitt’s media mouthpiece. “The Ghostwhisper” star has been the subject of many baby-bump whispers of late.

- As for alleged mom-to-be du jour Ashlee Simspon, well, it depends who you talk to. Sources say she’s definitely eating for two, but her Fall Out Boy fiancé, Pete Wentz, says no. When asked about the hubbub, Ashlee dodged the question, but gave Pete a convenient excuse for his denial. “Some things, you want to keep personal, and I think that when people deny (reports that they're pregnant), it's probably because it's something they want to keep personal.”

“Heroes” hottie Hayden Panettiere shared some relationship wisdom she’s learned from her Tinseltown romance with co-star Milo Ventimiglia. “There is no good thing about being a couple in Hollywood,” Hayden said in a quote posted to ContactMusic. “People make their own opinions about everything, and they like to be very judgmental about things they know nothing about.” … Veteran actress Joan Collins claims the trend toward a celebrity sound-bite culture is dragging us all through the intellectual gutter. “Our civilization has become extremely dumbed down, with shorter attention spans,” the “Dynasty” star told BlackBook magazine. “The tabloid magazines are the same every week. People has the same cover as InTouch as OK! as Us Weekly as Star magazine. They're exactly the same!”
