LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - Police are asking the district attorney to file a misdemeanor child endangerment charge against Richie Sambora, who had two children in his car when he was arrested for investigation of drunken driving last month.
Authorities haven’t released the names of a woman and two girls who were passengers in Sambora’s car when the Bon Jovi guitarist was stopped March 25.
Laguna Beach police Sgt. Jason Kravetz said Sambora was arrested without incident after failing a field sobriety test. He is scheduled to be arraigned May 7.
Police are recommending that driving under the influence and misdemeanor child endangerment charges be filed against the 48-year-old musician. The Orange County district attorney’s office will make the final decision.
Sambora’s publicist didn’t immediately return a call for comment.
“We have received the case and are reviewing it to determine which charges are appropriate,” district attorney spokeswoman Farrah Emami said Wednesday.
She said the office has until Sambora’s court appearance date to make a decision.
