LOS ANGELES - “American Idol” hopeful David Cook will have a special guest in the audience this week — his older brother Adam, who is suffering from cancer.

Adam Cook, 36, will travel from Terre Haute, Indiana to Los Angeles to watch his brother take the “Idol” stage, according to Indiana’s Tribune Star.

Adam is undergoing chemotherapy for his second diagnosis of brain cancer, which has spread to his spine, according to the story in the Tribune Star. His friends arranged for a chartered medical jet because doctors prohibited him from taking a commercial flight.

In fact, it’s an all-expense paid trip for Adam and his wife, Kendra, after friends rallied together to send him to California.

The couple reportedly boarded the jet in Terre Haute on Sunday night and they plan to return home on Thursday.

Kendra said David was excited to hear the news. But could a special “Idol” dedication be in the works?

“I don’t know what he’ll be singing,” Kendra told the Tribune Star. “We’ve just talked about dinner and hanging out.”

Adam and Kendra will be accompanied to the “Idol” tapings by a nurse and a medic, all of whom were granted tickets for the show.

David Cook, who is one of seven remaining finalists, has had the letters “AC” on his guitar at times during the season as a tribute to his brother.

“It has been an absolute whirlwind. I’m so thrilled for Adam … it’s been an awesome dream, an awesome goal, an awesome thought,” Kendra said. “The excitement of seeing his spirits lifted so high has been wonderful.”
