DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - A 41-year-old man, who wandered through traffic and violently resisted arrest, died after officers stunned him with a Taser, South Florida authorities said.

Broward Sheriff's deputies said James Garland was spotted naked wandering through streets  waving his shirt about 4 a.m. Friday. Officers used the stun gun on him after he resisted arrest, police said. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Garland, a registered sex offender, had arrest records in Broward County since 2002, mostly for cocaine-related charges, police said.
