Rapid City - Barack Obama was visiting the east side of South Dakota Friday and didn't make west river, but he sent two loyal supporters who have a heart for South Dakota and for Obama. Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert Kennedy, and their son Max spoke to a group at the Journey Museum before making their way to the Pine Ridge Reservation. Many have compared Obama to John F. Kennedy. It was a common feeling among Obama supporters that he could restore the "Camelot" that was once known during the Kennedy presidency. It's not just a matter of policy and politics for some Obama supporters. Voting for Barack Obama is like bringing back a part of one of the nation's most charismatic presidents.Jim Newton, Obama Supporter"He inspires me in the way that Jack Kennedy did in the 1960's. I think he's our best chance to get this country back going to where it needs to go." The Kennedy's left a mark on South Dakota, paying particular attention to Native Americans.Faith Lake, Obama Supporter"They were the first ones that mentioned the Native Americans and my dad bought his record and he would play it over and over to us." Robert Kennedy visited Pine Ridge when he ran for president and overwhelmingly won the Native vote in South Dakota. Ethel Kennedy and her son Max are a part of an American political dynasty who feel that Obama shares the same principles of JFK and Robert.Max Kennedy, Son of Robert Kennedy"It's such a nice thing for me to hear that kind of comparison. It's a privilege for me because I have so much respect and joy in this candidacy, so to have someone in my family compared to Barack Obama is really nice. We're going to win the general election and change this country." New policy and politics are continuing an old political legacy.
