Woman who married teen released from prison

ATLANTA - A woman who married her son's 15-year-old friend and later bore the friend's child was released from prison Friday.

Corrections officials said Lisa Lynette Clark had to immediately report to her probation office and had 24 hours to tell officials where she will live since she is a registered sex offender.

Clark was 37 when she married the teen in November 2005. A retired county probate judge performed the ceremony in the driveway of his home. Authorities arrested Clark the next day on charges of sexually molesting a minor.

Clark spent nine months in jail in 2006 after pleading guilty to statutory rape. She was sentenced to two more years in prison after pleading guilty to aiding her teenage husband's flight out of state in February 2006.

The teen, who had been on probation for a burglary, was caught within two weeks by authorities in Ohio and returned to Georgia.

Georgia's state law sets the marrying age at 16, but had allowed an exception for younger people to marry if the bride was pregnant. The law was changed in 2006, and now 16- and 17-year-olds can wed only with the approval of a parent or guardian and a probate judge.

Clark gave birth while behind bars and agreed to leave the child with foster parents.
