NYC-to-Paris flight diverted to Boston

BOSTON - U.S. Immigration officials say a French national will be deported after allegedly striking an attendant during a flight from New York to Paris.

American Airlines Flight 44 was diverted to Boston and landed Wednesday at Logan International Airport without incident shortly after 8 p.m. A Logan spokesman said no one was hurt.

Ansoumane Conde was taken into custody by state police and then turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

ICE spokeswoman Paula Grenier says Conde was in violation of immigration rules and will be deported. She was not specific about the violation, except to say it was not related to his alleged actions on the flight.

There were 136 passengers on the plane that traveling from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to Charles DeGaulle Airport in Paris.
