GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - An Israeli aircraft attacked a Hamas police station in a Gaza town Tuesday, killing six people and wounding several others, Hamas security officials and a health official said.

Some of the wounded were in critical condition, said Dr. Moaiya Hassanain, a Health Ministry official.

Islam Shahwan, a spokesman for the Hamas police, said the strike hit the police station in the southern Gaza village of Abassan, east of the town of Khan Younis. He said the men were performing afternoon prayers when the building was hit.
