NEW ORLEANS - A New Orleans police officer has been shot to death and a suspect is in custody.
The female officer's identity was not immediately available. Police spokesman Sgt. Joe Narcisse confirmed the death Monday morning and said one person was arrested.
Witnesses told New Orleans broadcasters that the woman was shot several times around 10 a.m. in a parking lot at a busy intersection in the city's crime-plagued Central City neighborhood.
