AUSTIN, Texas - Harold and Kumar have already gone to White Castle. Now they’re heading to the South by Southwest film festival.

“Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” is scheduled to play at the festival ahead of its April 4 theatrical release. The sequel to the 2004 cult comedy finds the goofball pals (Kal Penn and John Cho) suspected of terrorism when they try to sneak a bong onto a flight bound for Amsterdam.

Among the other films showing at this year’s festival, scheduled for March 7-11, are “Crawford,” a documentary about the Texas town where President Bush has his ranch; “Mister Lonely,” about a Michael Jackson impersonator (Diego Luna) who befriends a Marilyn Monroe impersonator (Samantha Morton); and “Battle in Seattle,” which looks at the 1990 WTO protests in Seattle through a variety of perspectives.

The opening-night movie is “21,” starring Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth and Laurence Fishburne, based on the true story of the MIT students who won millions in Vegas by counting cards.

Also on the schedule are discussions with Helen Hunt, who makes her directing debut with “Then She Found Me,” and former Disney executive Michael Eisner.
