The Scoop
They looked mighty cozy at an Emmys party in September, but later denied being in  a realtionship. Now, “Heroes” stars Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia finally seem to be a real item. And, regardless of the fact that Ventimiglia is technically old enough to be Panettiere’s dad (he’s 30, she’s only 18), Panettiere’s family has given Ventimiglia the thumbs up.

“Hayden’s mom adores Milo. She thinks he’s so cute,” a family friend told People. "She tells her friends that he's her boyfriend. She's very proud.”

The mag reports that during a December trip to New York City, Ventimiglia hung out with the entire Panettiere family. “He's even met her grandparents. He fits in perfectly with the family.” Panettiere’s rep doesn’t comment on her client’s personal life.

Paris Hilton: Who’s your daddy?
Single dads, gird your loins: Paris Hilton is on the prowl. Perhaps there are some men who find that sentence appealing, but consider the following. Within a 24-hour period in Las Vegas, Hilton was spotted spending serious quality time with Kevin Federline at Pure nightclub (and then later in her room, reports People) and then with Larry Birkhead at LAX nightclub. Given Federline and Birkhead’s propensity to gravitate toward women of wealth, it might be safe to conclude that neither party has heard the news that Hilton’s grandfather, billionaire Barron Hilton, all but cut Paris from his will.

Heather Mills’ New Year’s bash
She says she’s no gold digger, but you’ve got to wonder just what Heather Mills was thinking when she reportedly blew nearly $60,000 on a New Year’s Eve bash. The New York Post reports that the soon-to-be-ex Mrs. McCartney spent the money on $30,000 worth of fireworks, catering and booze.

A side note
I’m late on this blog helmed by “Late Show” writers, but if you have time to kill now that your DVR is empty, it’s well worth the visit. Here’s an excerpt from one prescient entry worth posting from writer Bill Scheft: “Last week, the Writers Guild voted to not grant a waiver to this year's Academy Awards. And executives at ABC are worried that without all that carefully scripted material, the show will be forced to cut back from four hours to three hours, 53 minutes.”
