4 killed, 2 hurt in Georgia mud-bogging crash

GRIFFIN, Ga. - Georgia authorities say alcohol may have played a role in a fiery SUV crash that killed four people and left two injured.

Police say the vehicle was barreling down a muddy road at 70 miles an hour when it slammed into trees and exploded about 11 p.m. Friday. Fire completely charred the Ford Bronco, police said.

Authorities say they had been mud-bogging and shortly before the crash, the SUV got stuck in dirt and had to be freed by a dump truck.

The children were riding in the back seat of the vehicle, police said.

Among those killed were a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. Police say no one in the SUV was wearing a seat belt. The two who were hurt, including a 4-year-old boy and a 36-year-old woman, are not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
