Pregnant, 16, Jamie Lynn dashes family’s hopes

Jamie Lynn Spears never imagined she’d spend this summer bringing up a new baby. The new arrival will come in early July, according to a source close to the family, and despite the calm front her mother Lynne’s put up, sources say she’s the one taking the news hardest. In short, Jamie Lynn has dashed the hopes of a fallen showbiz family.

“Jamie Lynn was this family’s big hope. With Britney, one minute you’re in, the next you’re out,” said the source. “Brit had been supporting her family for years, and now all eyes were on Jamie Lynn.”

Jamie Lynn is the star of Nickelodeon’s hugely successful “Zoey 101,” and her future there — and income — are up in the air. Nickelodeon issued a statement to TMZ on Tuesday saying, “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”

As for whether she’ll return to the show, Jamie Lynn told OK!, “I don’t know, I don’t know.”

“I don’t know how she can go back,” said the family friend. “And, what’s worse for the Spears is Britney doesn’t want to be a part of that Spears gravy train any more. That’s part of why Britney is freaking right now. With Jamie Lynn to focus on, she [Britney] was no longer the family’s only focus, and their only hope for income."

At the end of the day it also doesn’t help the Spears image that the father of the baby is Casey Aldridge, 19, who met Jamie Lynn in church and started dating her when she was only 13½. “Lots of people have been worried that this relationship was moving too fast. I guess there was a good reason to worry,” said a friend of the Spears family.

Tom Cruise’s film delayed till fall
Tom Cruise’s new flick “Valkyrie” will not be making any summer blockbuster lists as many hoped, but that’s because the film’s release date has been pushed back from June 27 to Oct. 3.

The reason for changing the date is that one of the film’s pivotal scenes, which includes Cruise’s character Claus von Stauffenberg, still has not been shot. (Filming for most of the movie completed on location in Germany in October.) Since locations for the scene in question are just now being scouted, according to a studio insider, there is no way the film could be wrapped in time to properly promote the film.  

The later release date could be a great move for Cruise and his studio, United Artists, since the film will now be released at what many consider the kick-off to awards season. “Valkyrie” will be the second release from UA. “Lions for Lambs” opened this past November.

Jessica as ‘Pretty Woman’?
OK, maybe Jessica Simpson’s film career is not over. The blonde bombshell is reportedly considering reprising the role of the hooker with a heart of gold in “Pretty Woman.”

“She thinks this one’s got hit written all over it,” a source close to Jess tells OK! Magazine. “(Her father) Joe has been telling anyone who will listen that she’s the next Julia Roberts.”

Fergie ‘practically married’ to Josh Duhamel

Most people would be trying to get “Vegas” hunk Josh Duhamel down an aisle as quickly as possible, but not Fergie, who has been dating the actor since 2004. Fergie, who is Blender magazine’s Woman of the Year, says, “We’re practically married, anyway.  I’m madly in love with him. He understands how to treat a woman and give me respect.”

She also spoke to the mag about her past drug addiction and that unfortunate onstage bathroom mishap. “It’s like there’s one or two things the public knows about every famous person ... with me, everyone knows I wet my pants onstage and had a crystal-meth addiction; that sucks. You have to laugh.” 

Better than laughing about it, Fergie finally offers and explanation for the incident. “I was late, so I didn’t go to the restroom before I went onstage. It was horrible. But, whatever. It happened.”
