LOS ANGELES - David Beckham isn’t likely to be in the audience for the first Spice Girls show, according to the British press.

The soccer star has reportedly been banned from attending the Spice Girls opener on Dec. 2 in Vancouver, over his wife Victoria’s nerves.

“One minute Victoria is saying she wants me there and then it’s ‘No, don’t come to the first show, as we’ll all be too nervous,’” Britain’s Daily Mail quoted Beckham as saying.

Beckham will most likely celebrate his wife’s return to pop superstardom, when the Spice Girls visit northern California on Dec. 4.

“I think I’ll be at the show a couple of days later in San Jose and have the boys with me. And I know Victoria will ring me as soon as the first show ends,” he said.

It appears Beckham won’t be relaxing at home while his wife tours. When asked if he was happy about taking a breather when the L.A. Galaxy take a break, he revealed, he’s going on the road.
