Hurdler insures ‘priceless’ legs for $13.3 million

BEIJING - Leg insurance: $13.3 million.
The legs themselves?
“They’re priceless,” said Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang, owner of the limbs in question.
The Beijing News newspaper reported Friday that Liu received an insurance policy worth $13.3 million, donated by Ping An of China as part of its sponsorship for China’s track and field team.
“You can’t really put a concrete figure on this,” said Liu, one of his country’s most celebrated athletes going into the 2008 Olympics.
Liu won gold in the 110-meter hurdles in Athens, helped him set a new world record of 12.88 seconds last year, and in August he won the world title.
His race at the Beijing games is expected to be one of the country’s most watched events.
