LOS ANGELES - Katharine McPhee, runner-up “American Idol,” is reportedly engaged. The singer, 23, is engaged to actor Nick Cokas, 42, according to a report in People. “Katharine is bubbling over with excitement for her upcoming wedding,” a source tells People. “She is all smiles when she talks about the planning. It sounds like everything is going very smoothly.”
McPhee has recently been seen sporting a ring that Cokas gave her.
The two met in a 2005 LA theater production of “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.”
Their friendship became more serious when, “He took me up to my San Francisco (‘Idol’) audition,” McPhee told People. “We totally fell in love,” she said.
The singer doesn’t think their age difference is an issue, saying it “was never really a concern. He just makes things really fun.”
Last year, McPhee sat down with Access’ Nancy O’Dell revealing some details about the man in her life.
McPhee confirmed to Access that Nick was her boyfriend but she hoped to keep her private life private.
“I’m just trying to find my way in this business,” said McPhee.
“You’re Jennifer Aniston all of a sudden,” Nancy joked with McPhee . “You’re still letting them know, maybe I’m available, maybe I’m not.”

“You’re always available, until you have a ring on your finger, you’re always available,” McPhee joked back.
“Don’t tell your boyfriend that,” Nancy laughed. “I’m just kidding! I’m kidding!”
The couple will collaborate on the upcoming film, “The Last Caller.”
McPhee’s camp declined to comment to People.
