The Sofia is an updating of the former Pickwick Hotel, built in 1926 at the corner of Front Street and Broadway, near the Gaslamp Quarter. It is one of the National Trust Historic Hotels of America. The Fall Back in Time package includes a third night at this property for $19.26 when you stay two consecutive nights for $149 per night and above. Use any American Express card to book this package and receive a free one-year membership to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, booking through the Fall Back in Time Web site.

Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, in Riverside, from $210 a night
