NEW YORK - Delta Air Lines on Wednesday unveiled a new schedule to accommodate increased customer demand at New York's John F. Kennedy International airport next summer while reducing congestion and delays.

The carrier said its new JFK schedule will add 14 international routes and will reduce delays and air traffic by decreasing the number of flights operating during peak hours and raising the number of flights using larger planes.

The new schedule is expected to offer 204 daily departures to 93 destinations from JFK by June 2008, a more than 20 percent increase in available seat miles with only 11 more daily departures.

The move comes at a time when the airline industry's on-time performance is suffering. For the first seven months of 2007, the on-time performance was the worst since comparable data began being collected in 1995, according to the Department of Transportation.
