LAS VEGAS - After weeks of rumors and speculation, it’s finally confirmed: Britney Spears will open the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.
MTV confirmed the news Thursday morning.
“Celebrating her long awaited comeback to her fans, Spears will be performing LIVE her new song ‘Gimme More’ from her highly anticipated new album due on November 13,” MTV revealed.
However, there has been no confirmation whether illusionist Criss Angel will assist Britney in her performance, as many have speculated.
Earlier this week, USA Today reported Britney would perform two songs at the show — “Cry” and “Gimme More,” which made its radio debut last week.
The VMAs, which air Sunday on MTV, will also include performances by Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Common, Nelly Furtado, Kid Rock, Jamie Foxx and many more.
