LOS ANGELES - After being accused of supplying drugs to Owen Wilson, actor Steve Coogan has reached out to Access Hollywood to defend himself.

In a statement released to Access Hollywood, Coogan vehemently denied allegations made by Wilson’s good friend Courtney Love that he was responsible for supplying or encouraging Wilson’s drug use.

“My thoughts are with my friend Owen at this difficult time, but I do want to set the record straight and say that the allegations published today are completely and utterly false,” Coogan stated.

Coogan, who starred opposite Wilson in “Night At The Museum,” dated Love in 2006.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Love claimed Coogan subjected her to a similar situation.

“Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t comment but I care too much about Owen. I went through this with Steve. I was just out of rehab and he was right there with the drugs,” Love told Us Weekly. “I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends. I adore the Wilson brothers. I hope, from the bottom of my heart, that Owen stays the hell away from that guy and surrounds himself with good people who care about him for who he is and not what they can get from him.”

Coogan’s other film credits include “Hot Fuzz,” “Marie Antoinette” and “Happy Endings.”
