Busted out, now time for a cash game

OK, let's start with the really creepy part. When I just left the Rio half an hour ago, the security there was cleaning up another car accident in the parking lot.

As for the World Series, my main event lasted about six hours. And basically, I hate pocket queens.

Two years ago, I was crippled with that hand against pocket aces. Today, playing against pocket queens cost me most of my stack. I ran my $20,000 starting stack up to $27,000 and then had a horrendous second level where I lost a decent-sized pot with AK of spades against pocket queens and then lost a bigger pot with pocket jacks against pocket queens. The second hand was against a total maniac, which led to the pot being bigger than it needed to be.

Then in level three, after hovering for a while between $6,000 and $8,000, I got my final $6,500 in chips with pocket tens against pocket jacks and did not get lucky.

No huge deal. I'm slightly annoyed only because I was at a great table with at least three players who had no clue. The ratio of bad players to decent ones in this event is like no other.

I'll probably chill out for a little while before taking a shot at a cash game or another tournament — a little while could be as little as one day, though.

In the meantime, I want to send good wishes to some guys who are still in this thing, including Mike May who had about $33,000 when I ran into him during the second break; Howard Chen, who starts play tomorrow; Francois Bennahmias, who will start Day 2 Tuesday with a healthy stack of more than $80,000; and Irv Gotti, who has more than $40,000 going into Day 2.

Take it down, boys.
