‘Runway’ will return, but not this summer

Kids can audition for ‘Fifth Grader’; good news for ‘Mole’ fans

Q: When is the “Project Runway” season going to start?    —Mary

A: Lots of folks asked us this, perhaps inspired by our list of summer reality show premieres, which did not include "Runway." That's because "Project Runway 4" is not going to start any time soon. The fourth season is actually filming in New York City right now. Production will likely take most of the month.

Bravo has only said that the show will return this fall, but since it always concludes shortly after one of New York's two Fashion Week events, it's likely that the series won't debut until November or December, just like the first two seasons.

Then it will conclude in time for the final three or four to present collections at Fashion Week during the spring of 2008.

Although he has a new job with Liz Claiborne, Tim Gunn is returning, as are the show's judges and host. Tim helped out with auditions earlier this spring, as did past contestants, and Tim told the Seattle Times, "we found the most phenomenal designers. We could cast three seasons of 'Project Runway' with the talent we saw."    —A.D.

Is your ‘Fifth Grader’ smarter than you?
We've often been asked how kids can audition to be one of the smarty-pants schoolkids on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" FOX is now looking for new kids to fill the class, and has already held auditions in several cities. Here's info on the New York auditions, to be held June 16.

Want more info on shows that are currently casting? Here's a good resource.  And you can also check our latest audition roundup, but it was first published in February, so some info is outdated.    —G.F.C.

The Mole
For “Mole”-lovers, there’s good news: The ABC competition series is returning, sort of. The FOX Reality Channel, an all-reality TV cable network, has purchased the rights to air the previously broadcast seasons.

To kick things off, they’ll air the entire first season of “The Mole” starting July 7. Two hour-long episodes will air every night that week at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT, a network spokesperson told me. The other seasons—the second season and the celebrity editions — will air on the network, too, but no broadcast date has been set for any of them yet. And if you missed the series, check it out (it’s also on DVD).

Between Anderson Cooper’s deadpan hosting and the interesting intellectual games, never mind the major twist (one of the contestants is working for the producers, against the rest of the cast), it’s much more entertaining than some of the series networks have churned out recently.

But although fans keep clamoring for more, we have yet to hear of any plans to make new seasons of the show.   —A.D.
