"The Bachelor" proposed to his chosen woman on Monday night's finale of ABC's reality dating show, and she said yes.

Naval lieutenant and doctor Andy Baldwin, 30, asked Tessa Horst, 26, a social worker from San Francisco, to be his wife after first sending home Bevin Nicole Powers, 28, a clinic-research coordinator from Palo Alto, Calif.

Spoiler fans may have already known the results: On May 9, the New York Post reported Tessa "had a few drinks the other night and spilled the beans to a Page Six spy." But the Post's information may not be completely correct, as the paper reported that she rejected Baldwin's proposal, while the finale that aired showed her saying "yes."

Baldwin is an undersea medical officer for a special operations dive unit stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

The show began with 25 Bachelorettes, but each week, the show required Baldwin to send some of them home.

On recent shows, the women took Baldwin to their hometowns and shared fantasy dates with him. On the finale, the two remaining women went to Baldwin's hometown of Lancaster, Penn., and met his family, before spending more time with him in Hawaii.

Mom doesn't always know best
Baldwin's family may be surprised by his choice. His mother, Cynthia, praised both women, but said "I definitely see Andy more connected to Bevin."

Bevin agreed, saying "I could definitely see myself as Andy's wife, and I believe we belong together. ... We were made for each other, we were meant to be."

Apparently, Baldwin didn't feel the same way, telling her "This is not a rejection at all, but there's somebody who's touched my heart deeper."

After leaving him, Bevin tearily announced "He doesn’t love me, I poured everything out on the line, I gave him my heart and he didn’t want it. ...and now I feel like a fool."

Baldwin had commented throughout the show that Tessa was holding back her emotions and wasn't revealing how she felt about him. But in the final days of the show, she told him she loved him, and he was delighted.

"Tessa is like a wish come true…we can shoot for the stars and anything is possible," he said before proposing on bended knee.

In 10 seasons of "The Bachelor" and three of "The Bachelorette," only one pairing has resulted in a known marriage. Trista Rehn married firefighter Ryan Sutter, and the couple are expecting a baby. Bass fisherman Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado were engaged to be married in 2006, but the couple has kept their intentions private and if they did marry, it wasn't publicized.
