MSNBC.com was temporarily unavailable to many Internet users on Friday afternoon.

The disruptions occurred as we were making adjustments to the site's domain name servers. For an additional period after the site was restored, some images were not displayed.

The outage was caused by human error as our technicians modified the servers.

Because it takes time for changes to replicate across the Internet, some users may not have seen our site for hours.
