Is it over for Jessica Simpson, John Mayer?

LOS ANGELES - Has the budding romance between John Mayer and Jessica Simpson found its thorn?

The couple that once seemed inseparable was very much separated Thursday, partying in completely different time zones.

Jessica attended the Nike party at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes on Thursday night. Earlier in the day, she was spotted hanging around Cannes with papa Joe Simpson and hairdresser-to-the-stars Ken Paves.

When Access Hollywood spoke with Simpson on Friday in Cannes, we asked her about the rumors of the rocky romance.

“Are you and John still friends?” Access asked her.

“I'm going to keep my private life private, but I am very happy,” she said.

Across the pond, Mayer engaged in a little bro-mance or at least some brotherly camaraderie in New York City.

PerezHilton.com is reporting a “well placed source” informed the gossip blogger that the duo, which he affectionately nicknamed Fugs ‘n’ Jugs, ended their relationship last weekend.
