NASSAU, Bahamas - A judge granted a continuance in Friday's court proceedings over Anna Nicole Smith's daughter Dannielynn Smith.

Smith's longtime companion Howard K. Stern, who currently has custody of the child, appeared alongside Dannielynn's father, photographer Larry Birkhead and grandmother Virgie Arthur.

While the proceedings are under a gag order, it is believed the parties were there to discuss a legal transition from custody between Stern and Birkhead. Arthur is also believed to be fighting for joint custody of the 7-month-old.

Access Hollywood's Tony Potts has learned that Virgie and Larry will meet without their lawyers Saturday to discuss custody of the child. Arthur and Birkhead reportedly met Thursday night, but Saturday's meeting will be between just the grandmother and the baby's father. Friday's court proceeding is believed to have set the stage for this weekend's meeting.

Outside of court, Stern told reporters transferring the baby to Birkhead has begun. He said Larry was doing a great job jumping into the role of dad.
