WASHINGTON - The Senate begins debate today on an Iraq War funding bill that calls for a pullout of U.S. troops from Iraq by March of next year.
Unlike the deadline in the House version, the Senate's deadline is non-binding.
However, both measures face a certain veto from President Bush.
Meanwhile, the Senate's number two Republican leader has harshly criticized House Democrats for setting what he calls an "artificial date" for withdrawing troops from Iraq.
Trent Lott said on "Fox News Sunday" that he believes Republicans have enough votes to prevent passage of a similar bill in the Senate.
