  National spectacles
Nearly 400 national parks can be found all across America, and feature breathtaking vistas, rock formations millions of years old, and more.

Because of his love for food, Mark Schatzker, a Toronto-based writer and frequent contributor to Condé Nast Traveler, has gone to Italy in search of the best bistecca alla fiorentina. His love of adventure, meanwhile, took him to the Atacama desert to experience life at 18,000 feet and put him inside the cockpit of an F-18 jet fighter to see what it's like to be a fighter pilot (quite nauseating, as it turns out). Schatzker has received numerous Canadian National Magazine Awards and was nominated for a James Beard Award for magazine feature writing.
