Official: No bomb on plane detained in Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio - No bomb was found aboard a plane detained earlier at Toledo Express Airport, an airline spokeswoman said Friday.

Earlier, emergency crews responded to a bomb threat after a passenger on a parked commuter plane with 33 people on board called in the report by cell phone.

American Eagle spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said authorities determined there was no bomb, and no injuries or arrests were reported.

The plane had pushed away from the terminal and was getting ready to take off for Chicago when the 911 call was made about 10:30 a.m., Huguely said. The plane had 30 passengers and three crew members on board.

The plane was preparing to leave for Chicago after receiving the all-clear, Huguely said. One passenger decided not to continue on to Chicago; Huguely had no further details.

Local law enforcement and FBI had asked to stop the plane from taking off, Huguely said. The plane had sat isolated on a runway for about an hour before the fire trucks and other vehicles approached.

The FBI and city fire officials did not know whether the caller was the one making the threat.

Planes still were taking off and landing at the airport.
