The producers of "Dancing With the Stars" won't confirm or deny published reports that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has been cast on the ABC reality show. But a show representative told MSNBC.com that quotes attributed to a show producer by a British newspaper are "completely fabricated."
AllHeadlineNews.com reported Wednesday that Ferguson would be joining the show's next season, reportedly scheduled for March. It went on to claim that show producer Conrad Green had told London's Daily Express newspaper that "Fergie will add a touch of class to the proceedings and the fans will be waiting to see if she falls for her dance partner. Everyone loves a royal romance and her presence will bring dazzling ratings."
A show representative told MSNBC.com that "the quote attributed to Conrad Green is completely fabricated." She went on to say that casting for the show was still in progress and no one from the program would comment on who might or might not participate in the show's fourth season.
In an interview with "Inside Edition" in November, Ferguson expressed interest in the show, saying “I’d quite like to go on ‘Dancing with the Stars. I’d like them to teach me the tango.”
Past celebrities on the show have included former Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith, who won the show's third season, former 98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey, who won season two, and actress Kelly Monaco, who won the hotly contested first season, but later lost a fan-decided dance-off to actor John O'Hurley.
