RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - How often does a judge hear a defendant say he doesn't think his bond is high enough?
It happened last week in an Arkansas courtroom, where a man accused of stealing from his mother told a judge that he wanted his $30,000 bond increased.
Cedric Criswell told the judge, "I stole from my mother. I don't think that bond's high enough."
Criswell is accused of stealing his mother's car and checkbook.
The judge ended up setting bond at $50,000, and Criswell remains jailed in Pope County.
Police say Criswell and two others used forged checks to buy surveillance equipment, cell phones and stereo equipment. The other two face forgery charges.
