Penn. police chief turns in son for bank robbery

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A police chief’s son was charged with bank robbery after his father recognized him in surveillance photos, authorities said.

James Cavallo, acting police chief of Moore Township, called regional police after reviewing photos from the bank near Bethlehem, according to court documents.

James Cavallo Jr., 28, allegedly left the bank Tuesday with $6,000 in cash after passing a note to a teller stating he had a gun.

Police recovered about $3,800 from his home. He told authorities he spent the rest at Atlantic City casinos, according to the documents.

Cavallo Jr. was jailed on $500,000 bail.
