NEW YORK - The autobiography of Dennis Hopper, the “Easy Rider” star and Hollywood rebel whose friends and acquaintances have included James Dean, Marlon Brando and Jack Nicholson, is scheduled to come out in 2008.

“This is going to be the most exciting and unrestrained memoir to come out in years,” Michael Pietsch, senior vice president and publisher of Little, Brown and Company, said Monday in a statement.

Hopper’s book is called “Out Takes” and, according to Little, Brown, will cover everything from his childhood in Kansas to his work in “Easy Rider,” “Rebel Without a Cause,” “True Romance” and other films to his impressions of Brando, Dean, Elvis Presley and many others.

“Dennis Hopper is the font of some of the most original and daring work ever to come out of Hollywood, and he has put himself in the path of America’s watershed events — the rebelliousness of the ’60s, the civil rights movement, the explosion of modern art and photography, the glory years of jazz and rock and roll,” Pietsch said.

“He has astonishing stories to tell about all that and much more.”
