WILMINGTON, Del. - A former Boy Scout leader who spent 20 years volunteering for the organization was charged with raping two boys, authorities said.

Jon S. Rohrer, 63, was held without bail Friday on five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and one count of child rape.

Rohrer was arrested on child pornography charges after he took his home computer to a repair shop and a technician found images of child pornography, said state police spokeswoman Sgt. Melissa Zebley.

Police found 844 files of child pornography photographs and seven video files.

“During the course of being interviewed, he led us to these other accounts of child molestation,” Zebley said.

Investigators said the molestation charges stem from alleged incidents dating to the late 1980s.

Patrick Sterrett, executive director of the Delmarva Council of the Boy Scouts of America, said Rohrer has been fired and the council is sending letters to parents of children who had contact with him. One of the boys allegedly involved in the case was a Boy Scout whom Rohrer supervised.

“We’re obviously very saddened by it and angered by it,” Sterrett said.

Rohrer faces a preliminary hearing Monday. Attempts to reach him Friday were unsuccessful.
