LOS ANGELES - A Frontier Airlines jet landed safely in Los Angeles, after being turned around because of a possible problem with a cargo door.
The plane took off from Santa Ana, Calif., Tuesday morning on a flight to Denver, and the crew then reported that a cargo door light started flashing intermittently.
So, the airline says, the crew decided to “get it checked out.” The plane headed to Los Angeles, where Frontier has more maintenance crews.
Flight 263, an Airbus 318, circled to burn off fuel before landing at LAX shortly before 1 p.m. PT, about two hours after it took off.
The plane had 119 passengers and crew members on board.
When the problem was discovered, crash crews initially assembled at John Wayne Airport, but Frontier spokesperson Joe Hodus said the pilots decided to land instead at the Los Angeles airport because it had more resources available.
Hodus emphasized that the landing was a precautionary, not an emergency.
