LOS ANGELES - “Newlyweds” Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson aren’t yet divorced, but Lachey is moving on to a new marriage. At least on TV.
Lachey is set to play a baseball star navigating a new marriage in a pilot for the WB network, spokesman Paul McGuire said Monday. Danny Jacobson, co-creator of “Mad About You,” has been tapped to write the show.
“Nick is a huge talent with a major following and Danny is a brilliant, seasoned comedy writer,” McGuire said. “We hope it’s a good match.”

Simpson, 25, and Lachey, 32, jointly announced their separation on Nov. 23, saying they had decided to part ways after three years of marriage. The couple had their own reality show, “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica,” on MTV.
